Mayor of Nicosia

Address of the Mayor of Nicosia, Mr. Constantinos Yiorkadjis

at the 13th International Film Festival - Cyprus Film Days 2015 (17 - 26 April 2015)
Dear Friends of Cinema,

The International Film Festival – Cyprus Film Days 2015 continues to contribute to the seventh art for the 13th consecutive year by showcasing thirty new films, all screened for the first time in Cyprus. Moreover, this is a special year for the festival since a new national competition section has been established for the first time, with the participation of four new Cypriot productions.

The Cyprus Film Days is a celebration for cinema professionals and cinephiles, who will have the opportunity to watch an excellent film selection, consisting of productions from across the world, as well as to participate in an interesting dialogue with local and international filmmakers. The creation of Film Days for Children and Youth is also an important addition to this year’s festival, targetting young audiences.

Invaluable efforts have been made this year as well in order to achieve an excellent organisation of all events. Nicosia is ready to welcome cinema professionals and artists of the seventh art. I would like to warmly thank all upcoming filmmakers as well as all those who work, support and participate in the Festival.

Finally, I would like to especially thank the Cultural Services of the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Rialto Theatre for their excellent organisation, as well as all the sponsors for actively supporting this important event.

Welcome to Nicosia and to the International Film Festival – Cyprus Film Days 2015.

Enjoy the screenings!
