Cyprus Film Days International Festival

THE OFFICIAL COMPETITION FICTION FILM FESTIVAL OF CYPRUS

Cyprus Film Days International Festival (CFD IFF) is the official competition festival of Cyprus dedicated to the art of the full-length fiction film. The Festival is organised by the Department of Modern and Contemporary Culture of the Deputy Ministry of Culture and the Rialto Theatre and is held annually in the two major cities of Cyprus: the coastal city of Limassol, which also serves as the festival’s guest office/centre, and Nicosia, the capital city of Cyprus, where most of the industry-related activities take place. First established in 2001, CFD (formerly known as the Cinema Horizons Cyprus Festival) has since then set the objective of offering to Cypriot cinephiles and festival visitors a quality selection of the best of festival cinema. In 2011, the CFD organisers introduced the first international competition section of the festival titled ‘Glocal Images’ and in 2015 the Cypriot Films competition section. One of the main out of competition programmes of the CFD is ‘Viewfinder’, which comprises a selection of critically acclaimed and multi-awarded films that stood out in the previous and current year.
The Artistic Committee is responsible for the selection of the films, as well as for the preparation of the screenings programme, parallel events and industry-related activities. A five-member international Jury, appointed by the Artistic Committee, is responsible for selecting the awarded films.
