It is a great pleasure to welcome you all to the 21st edition of Cyprus Film Days International Festival 2023, which is held under the auspices of the Municipality of Nicosia.
The CFD is an international festival that has become an institutional event, which aims at broadening its horizons beyond the geographical boundaries of Cyprus, drawing the attention of the international film industry and audience.
The Festival’s philosophy is fully in line with the cultural philosophy of the Municipality of Nicosia, which promotes a wide spectrum of cultural and artistic activities in an attempt to raise the citizens’ awareness through their contact with other cultures, and to nurture them with the values and principles of Art.
The support of the Municipality of Nicosia towards such a cultural event is imposed, since it constitutes a milestone of artistic expression and creativity. The Municipality of Nicosia has always been a supporter of the artistic world, offering its aid to cultural events and proudly standing by this significant endeavour that honours Cyprus internationally.
Over the course of time, the 7th art has been offering a pleasant escape from the challenges of everyday life, introducing the art-loving audience to other worlds, whether imaginary or real. Cinema has the power of counter-balancing our concerns, offering rest and enjoyment. It wholeheartedly brings out emotions, laughter, providing an opportunity to reflect and mentally travel to other worlds.
Cyprus Film Days IF 2023 offers yet again an unforgettable, captivating experience. In its 21-year course, it has evolved and expanded, showcasing high quality films made by directors who carved their own path on the big screen, evoking a multitude of emotions to the audience.
I wish to congratulate the Organisers of this event, the Deputy Ministry of Culture and the Rialto Theatre, as well as all those who have contributed to the implementation of the Festival. Let’s enjoy together this fascinating experience.
