The Midsummer’s Voice

The story follows Sun Xiaolei, a young student of the Beijing Opera, who faces the anxiety of adolescence and vocal change (voice breaking), which threatens his career. During a crucial summer, he makes friends with two of his competitors, tomboy Shi Jiahui and rebel Xie Tianci. The film explores the pressure of traditional arts, adolescent anxiety, family expectations, and the search for identity.
