The Festival

Cyprus Film Days International Festival (CFD IFF) is the official competition festival of Cyprus dedicated to the art of the full-length fiction film. The Festival is organised by the Department of Modern and Contemporary Culture of the Deputy Ministry of Culture and the Rialto Theatre and is held annually in the two major cities of Cyprus: the coastal city of Limassol, which also serves as the festival’s guest office/centre, and Nicosia, the capital city of Cyprus, where most of the industry-related activities take place. First established in 2001, CFD (formerly known as the Cinema Horizons Cyprus Festival) has since then set the objective of offering to Cypriot cinephiles and festival visitors a quality selection of the best of festival cinema.

Film Sections

In 2011, the CFD organisers introduced the first international competition section of the festival titled ‘Glocal Images’ and in 2015 the Cypriot Films competition section. The artistic committee, selects international and national films with an emphasis on those films originating from neighbouring continents of Cyprus, which promote cinema as an art form as well as a tool for intercultural dialogue. Moreover, Glocal Images seeks to attract films highlighting stories specific to their country of origin, which at the same time reflect quality synergies between smaller film producing countries.
