Seven teams of producers – directors with projects originating from countries of the Mediterranean Sea will “pitch” their new feature film projects to representatives of the international film industry.

“Crossing Borders: The dynamics and challenges of co-productions in the Mediterranean”

With an aim to promote and expand crossborder film productions within the Mediterranean, Dot on the Map presents a live panel discussion featuring producers from Cyprus, Israel and Italy. The producers will share experiences about co-producing award winning films, along with exploring the dynamics of crossborder collaboration. What challenges arise from attempting to co-produce a low budget film? And, what is the role of our common Mediterranean culture in creating a successful synergy?

10:30 Case Study: The film APPLES as a successful European co-production

Apples, the debut feature film by Christos Nikou, screening at this year’s Cyprus Film Days IFF, will be analysed in a case study as a successful co-production (Greece – Poland – Slovenia) which was acquired for international distribution. On the panel dicsussion: film director Christos Nikou, producer Iraklis Mavroeidis (Boo Productions, Greece), co-producer Ales Pavlin (Perfo Films, Slovenia) and on behalf of the sales company Alpha Violet, Virginie Devesa (France). The film will be screened at the festival on April 21st [20:30 Zena Palace Cinema] and April 22nd [20:30, Rialto Theatre]. Apples won awards at international film festivals and it was the official entry of Greece to Academy Awards 2021 – Best International Feature Film category.

A screenwriting masterclass titled “Local Concept – Global Interest”, in collaboration with the Mediterranean Film Institute.
