CREATIVE FILM WORKSHOPS FOR CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE DREAMING, RESISTING, ACTING WITH THEIR VOICE AS AN ALLY

The Children and Youth Section presents a rich program of masterclasses and film workshops. Through experiential processes and under the guidance of professionals in the field, participants have the opportunity to get to know different aspects of film creation, from acting and the casting process to screenwriting and working in front of the camera. The workshops encourage creative expression, collaboration, and the cultivation of storytelling skills, giving space to the personal experiences and voices of young creators. Through this process, audiovisual media emerge as a tool for learning, self-awareness, and active participation.

#1 Masterclass in Screenwriting (16+)

The Art of Writing for Netflix. The Inevitable Surprise

With Marc Bechar

Saturday, April 18, 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. | Venue: K Cineplex Prime, 8 Makedonitissas, Strovolos 4025, Nicosia.

Workshop Language: English

The Inevitable Surprise is an intensive masterclass that approaches story development as a rigorous, professional, and deeply human-centered process. Instead of formulas, success recipes, or step-by-step methods, the course focuses on how writers and filmmakers can resist predictability, challenge their first ideas, and delay commitment to narrative decisions.

In this lively and analytical educational experience, you will explore how stories are built where the actions of the characters are unexpected but perfectly consistent—stories based not on plot or the world, but on the people who move them. Through discussion and examples, the masterclass delves into how the viewer’s sense of trust can be maintained and how the “inevitable” arises only when all easy solutions have been exhausted.
