Denis Vaslin founded VOLYA FILMS in 2004. He is a graduate of the Binger Lab, EAVE, EURODOC and ACE, a member of the European Film Academy and a member of the pedagogical team of the Festival des Trois Continents.Volya Films is a Rotterdam-based film production company that produces high-quality feature films, documentaries and animations for the national and international market, mainly as international co-productions. Our films tell unexpected stories with an original style or perspective.Recent titles are Youth (HOMECOMING) (Wang Bing, Golden Lion Competition Venice Film Festival 2024), City of Wind (Lkhagvadulam Purev-Ochir, Venice Film Festival 2023), Luka (Jessica Woodworth, Big Screen Competition IFFR 2023) and Totem (Sander Burger, Opening Film Cinekid Festival 2022, winner of 17 awards and selected for 27 festivals). 

Initially trained as a lawyer, Katya Trichkova soon recognised her deep-seated love for cinema, leading her to pursue a career in filmmaking. She has established herself as one of the most recognised Bulgarian producers working internationally, supporting filmmakers who have a unique and powerful voice. The films she has produced or co-produced have received international acclaim and numerous awards, such as Stephan Komandarev’s Blaga’s Lessons (2023, Crystal Globe for Best Film at Karlovy Vary IFF), Directions (2017, Un Certain Regard, Festival de Cannes) and Caini by Bogdan Mirica (2016, FIPRESCI Prize, Un Certain Regard, Festival de Cannes). The latest film co-produced by Katya, The Man Who Could Not Remain Silent by Nebojša Slijepčević, won the Palme D’or for Best Short Film, the European Film Award for Best Short in 2024, followed by a César for Best Short Fiction Film and an Academy Award Nomination for Best Live Action Short Film, in 2025.

Films produced by Miloš Lochman premiered at Cannes, Rotterdam, Toronto, Locarno, and Karlovy Vary, winning the Pardo d’Oro, eight Czech Academy Awards, and prizes at other international festivals. Miloš is a member of ACE Producers, the European Film Academy (EFA), and the Czech Film Academy (ČFTA).
