Jo Katsaras Η Jo Katsaras (προτεινόμενη για βραβείο Emmy Καλύτερου Σχεδιασμού Κουστουμιών) γεννήθηκε το 1966 στην Κύπρο. Στην ηλικία των 5 ετών, εγκαταστάθηκε στη Νότια Αφρική όπου μεγάλωσε. Εξερευνώντας τον κόσμο της μόδας, εργάστηκε αρχικά ως σχεδιάστρια σε κορυφαία εταιρεία κατασκευής ρούχων, ενώ αργότερα ανακάλυψε ότι ο τομέας που της κινούσε πραγματικά το ενδιαφέρον ήταν η ενδυματολογία. Ο κινηματογράφος ήταν, συνεπώς, το απόλυτο μέσο έκφρασης και διοχέτευσης της δημιουργικότητάς της: μετά την πρώτη ταινία μεγάλου μήκους για την οποία ανέλαβε τον σχεδιασμό κουστουμιών, τη νοτιοαφρικανική κινηματογραφική επιτυχία, There’s a Zulu on My Step, η Jo συνεργάστηκε επίσης, ως σχεδιάστρια κουστουμιών, με εταιρείες παραγωγής διαφημιστικών, τηλεοπτικών σειρών και ταινιών, όπως Running Wild του Jean Jacques Annaud για τη Sony Pictures, Tarzan and the Lost City για τη Village Roadshow, Mr Bones, The Young Black Stallion (Disney IMAX), Country of My Skull, Racing Stripes, και την επιτυχημένη σειρά The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency, που χάρισε στην Jo διεθνή αναγνώριση, αναδεικνύοντας το έργο της (προτάθηκε για βραβείο Emmy καλύτερου σχεδιασμού κουστουμιών στα 61α Βραβεία Emmy το 2009). Jo Katsaras (Emmy nominated Costume Designer) was born in Cyprus in 1966 and has been living in South Africa since she was 5 years old. Jo entered the world of fashion working as a Senior Designer at a large clothing manufacturer. However, she soon discovered that her real area of interest lay in individual wardrobes. Film was therefore a natural progression for Jo who found ultimate expression for her creativity through this medium. Since designing her first feature, the South African blockbuster, There’s a Zulu on My Step, Jo went on to design for a number of major commercials, television series and feature films. Her feature credits include Jean Jacques Annaud’s Running Wild (Sony Pictures), Tarzan and the Lost City (Village Roadshow), Mr Bones, the Disney IMAX feature The Young Black Stallion, Country of My Skull, Racing Stripes, and blockbuster hit series The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency, which brought Jo worldwide recognition and an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Costumes for a Series at the 61st Emmys in 2009. In February 2010, Jo was nominated by the Costume Designer’s Guild of America for “Outstanding Contemporary Costumes”. Jo has since worked on Phillip Noyce’s Mary and Martha, The Borrowers and Half a Yellow Sun.

 

Julek Kedzierski Ο Julek Kedzierski, συντονιστής του Mannheim Meeting Place, γεννήθηκε στην Αγγλία και σπούδασε Σκηνοθεσία στην Πολωνία (1967-71). Από το 1971 μέχρι το 1980 εργάστηκε στον τομέα παραγωγής βίντεο και, για 36 συνολικά χρόνια, στον τομέα της διεθνούς διανομής ταινιών. Από το 2010, είναι ο επικεφαλής της αγοράς ταινιών διεθνούς συμπαραγωγής στο Διεθνές Φεστιβάλ Κινηματογράφου του Mannheim (IFF Mannheim) στη Χαϊδελβέργη, αποστολή του οποίου είναι να χτίζει συνεργασίες ανάμεσα σε πρωτοεμφανιζόμενους και έμπειρους παραγωγούς από όλο τον κόσμο. Έχει συνεργαστεί με παραγωγούς από την Κύπρο στις ταινίες Smuggling Hendrix και Menopause (2016-2017). Julek Kedzierski, born and educated in England, is the coordinator of Mannheim Meeting Place. He studied Film Directing in Poland (1967-71), and worked in video production from 1971 until 1980. He worked in the international distribution sector in sales and acquisitions for 36 years. Since 2010, he has been the head of the International co-production market at IFF Mannheim Heidelberg, bringing together start-up producers with experienced minority producers in the art house sector on a worldwide basis. He collaborated with Cypriot producers on Smuggling Hendrix and Menopause (2016-2017).

 

Vicky Krieps Η Vicky Krieps γεννήθηκε το 1983 στο Λουξεμβούργο. Παρακολούθησε αρχικά μαθήματα υποκριτικής στο Κονσερβατόριο του Λουξεμβούργου. Ακολούθως, ταξίδεψε στη Νότια Αφρική, όπου εργάστηκε εθελοντικά σε μία δημοτική κοινότητα, ενώ αργότερα εγκαταστάθηκε στη Ζυρίχη όπου σπούδασε υποκριτική στη Σχολή Τεχνών της Ζυρίχης (ZHDK). Εκεί εργάστηκε ως ηθοποιός στο Schauspielhaus Zurich και σκηνοθέτησε τη δική της παράσταση με τίτλο Kopf An στο Theater der Künste. Το 2010, μετακόμισε στο Βερολίνο και έκτοτε έχει συμμετάσχει σε πολλές διεθνείς ταινίες διακεκριμένων σκηνοθετών, όπως στην ταινία Colonia Dignidad σε σκηνοθεσία Florian Gallenberger. Στην πιο πρόσφατη συμμετοχή της σε ταινία, The young Karl Marx, σε σκηνοθεσία Raoul Peck, που πρόκειται να κυκλοφορήσει φέτος, υποδύεται τον ρόλο της συζύγου του Καρλ Μαρξ, Jenny Von Westfahlen. Για τον πρωταγωνιστικό της ρόλο στην ταινία The chambermaid Lynn, η οποία προβλήθηκε πέρυσι στο Κινηματογραφικές Μέρες Κύπρος 2015, απέσπασε βραβείο υποκριτικής στο Φεστιβάλ Κινηματογράφου του Μονάχου “Förderpreis neues deutsches Kino”. Vicky Krieps was born in 1983 in Luxembourg. She made her first steps in acting at the Conservatoire de Luxembourg. After travelling to South Africa, where she worked as a volunteer in a township, she decided to study acting at the ZHDK in Zurich. In Zurich, she started working as an actress at the Schauspielhaus Zurich and directed her own play Kopf An at the Theater der Künste. Since she moved to Berlin in 2010, she started working in many international films with well-established directors: she recently played in the film Colonia Dignidad directed by Florian Gallenberger. Her latest film The young Karl Marx, directed by Raoul Peck, where she plays Marx’s wife, Jenny Von Westfahlen, is expected to be out later this year. For her role in The chambermaid Lynn, screened at Cyprus Film Days International Festival in 2015, she won a prize for her acting at the Munich film festival “Förderpreis neues deutsches Kino”.

 

Christine Haupt Η Christine Haupt σπούδασε τηλεοπτική και κινηματογραφική παραγωγή στη σχολή κινηματογράφου HFF “Konrad Wolf” στο Potsdam-Babelsberg. Εργάστηκε σε διάφορα κινηματογραφικά πόστα για αρκετές ταινίες μεγάλου μήκους και τηλεταινίες, όπως Οι ζωές των άλλων, ως διευθύντρια παραγωγής σε τηλεοπτικούς οργανισμούς και ως παραγωγός παιδικών ταινιών και τηλεοπτικών σειρών. Τα τελευταία χρόνια, έχει επίσης αναλάβει την παραγωγή ταινιών κυρίως διεθνούς συμπαραγωγής. Οι ταινίες της έχουν συμμετάσχει σε φεστιβάλ ανά τον κόσμο, ενώ έχουν επίσης αποσπάσει πολλά βραβεία. Το 2008, η Christine Haupt ίδρυσε την Hauptfilm Produktion, μία ανεξάρτητη εταιρεία παραγωγής ταινιών με έδρα το Βερολίνο και τη Λειψία. Η εταιρεία Hauptfilm Produktion αναλαμβάνει κυρίως την παραγωγή ταινιών μεγάλου μήκους, τόσο για την εγχώρια όσο και για τη διεθνή αγορά. Αυτή την περίοδο, εξερευνά πρακτικές νέων μέσων όπως crossmedia, ενώ έχει πρόσφατα αναλάβει την παραγωγή ντοκιμαντέρ και ταινιών μεγάλου μήκους, τα οποία βρίσκονται σήμερα στο στάδιο παραγωγής. Η Christine Haupt είναι μέλος της Ευρωπαϊκής Ακαδημίας Κινηματογράφου (EFA). Christine Haupt studied Film and TV production at the film school HFF “Konrad Wolf” in Potsdam-Babelsberg. She has worked in different functions for several feature – and TV films, i.e. The Lives of Others, operated as unit production manager for several broadcasters and as junior producer for children films and series. In the previous years, she produced mainly international co-productions. Her films run on festivals throughout the world and received numerous awards. In 2008 Christine Haupt founded Hauptfilm Produktion – an independent film production company based in Berlin and Leipzig. Hauptfilm Produktion produces mainly feature films, both for the national and international market. The company currently explores new crossmedia formats. Several film projects for feature and documentary films are in development. Christine Haupt is member of the European Film Academy (EFA).

 

Κύρος Παπαβασιλείου Ο Κύρος Παπαβασιλείου γεννήθηκε στη Λευκωσία το 1972. Έχει σκηνοθετήσει μία μεγάλου μήκους ταινία και πέντε μικρού μήκους. Η μεγάλου μήκους ταινία του Οι εντυπώσεις ενός πνιγμένου έκανε παγκόσμια πρεμιέρα στο Διαγωνιστικό Τμήμα του Φεστιβάλ Ρότερνταμ 2015, ενώ βραβεύθηκε στις περσινές Κινηματογραφικές Μέρες με το Βραβείο Καλύτερης Σκηνοθεσίας και Καλύτερης Κυπριακής Ταινίας. Η μικρού μήκους ταινία του με τίτλο Για το όνομα του σπουργιτιού επιλέχθηκε για να συμμετάσχει στο επίσημο διαγωνιστικό τμήμα του Φεστιβάλ Καννών το 2007. Η μικρού μήκους ταινία του με τίτλο Στο Δοκιμαστήριο του Κάφκα απέσπασε το ειδικό βραβείο της Επιτροπής Ελληνικού Κέντρου Κινηματογράφου στο Φεστιβάλ Δράμας 2005. Έχει, επίσης, εκδώσει μια ποιητική συλλογή με τίτλο Πόνημαν από τις εκδόσεις Γαβριηλίδη. Έχει σκηνοθετήσει τις παραστάσεις Παρεξήγησις της γλυκείας χώρας Κύπρου (2013) και Το βλέμμα (2015). Kyros Papavassiliou was born in Nicosia in 1972. He directed one feature film and five short films. His feature film Impressions of a drowned man premiered in the Competition Section of the International Film Festival of Rotterdam 2015, and won Best Director and Best National Film at last year’s Cyprus Film Days IFF. His short film In the name of the sparrow was selected in the official competition section of Cannes Film Festival in 2007. His short film, At Kafka’s trial room, received the special jury award of the Greek Film Centre in Drama Film Festival in 2005. Kyros also published a poetry collection entitled Poniman, (Gavrielides publications) and directed two plays: Misunderstanding of a sweet land called Cyprus (2013) and The Gaze (2015).
