Dr Costas Constandinides
Dr Costas Constandinides is Assistant Professor of Film Studies in the Department of Communications at the University of Nicosia. He holds a postgraduate degree and a doctorate degree from the University of Reading, UK (MA Film and Theatre Studies, 2003; PhD Film Studies, 2007) and an undergraduate degree from the University of Cyprus (BA in English Studies, 2002). He is the author of From Film Adaptation to Post-celluloid Adaptation (Continuum, 2010; Bloomsbury, 2012) and co-editor of Cypriot Cinemas: Memory, Conflict and Identity in the Margins of Europe (Bloomsbury, 2014). He is a member of the European Film Academy.
Ο Δρ. Κώστας Κωνσταντινίδης είναι Επίκουρος Καθηγητής Κινηματογραφικών Σπουδών στο Τμήμα Επικοινωνίας του Πανεπιστημίου Λευκωσίας. Κατέχει Μεταπτυχιακό και Διδακτορικό τίτλο από το University of Reading, UK (MA Film and Theatre Studies, 2003 και PhD Film Studies, 2007) και πτυχιακό τίτλο στις Αγγλικές Σπουδές από το Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου (2002). Marios Stylianou – Director/Producer
Marios Stylianou was born in 1962 in the now-occupied city of Famagusta. Son of well-known photographer, Nicos Stylianou, Marios grew up in a photographic environment, inspired on a daily basis by the art of Photography. He studied Photography and Cinema in the University of Applied Sciences in Cologne/Western Germany and completed his studies with a thesis on the creation of TV commercials.
In 1989, he established MS Viewpoint, a company specialising in the production of TV commercials. Since then, he continues to be widely present in the field, producing and directing famous and successful TV commercials for the Cypriot TV, broadcast both in Cyprus and abroad: in Greece, Lebanon, UAE, Russia, Malta, Germany and other European countries.
Among these commercials, seven TV advertisements were selected for the final stage of the London International Advertising Awards, and three others were among the finalists of the ERMIS Awards in Greece. Throughout his career, he has produced TV commercials for the most important institutions and organisations in Cyprus, collaborated with various private companies and taught photography and video production in Europa College, Cyprus College and Intercollege. Since 2012, he has been giving lectures at the University of Nicosia in the Design and Multimedia Department, where he teaches Production of TV Commercials, as well as Digital Cinematography in the Communications Department of the same university.
Ο Μάριος Στυλιανού γεννήθηκε το 1962 στη σήμερα κατεχόμενη πόλη της Αμμοχώστου. Γιος του φημισμένου φωτογράφου της πόλης, Νίκου Στυλιανού, μεγάλωσε βιώνοντας καθημερινά την τέχνη της Φωτογραφίας. Σπούδασε Φωτογραφία και Κινηματογράφο στο Πολυτεχνείο της Κολωνίας/Δυτικής Γερμανίας, ολοκληρώνοντας τις σπουδές του με μία πτυχιακή εργασία με θέμα την τηλεοπτική διαφήμιση.
Το 1989, ίδρυσε την εταιρεία παραγωγής τηλεοπτικών διαφημίσεων MS Viewpoint. Έκτοτε, εξακολουθεί να σκηνοθετεί επιτυχημένες και γνωστές τηλεοπτικές διαφημίσεις για την κυπριακή τηλεόραση, ορισμένες από τις οποίες έχουν προβληθεί εκτός από την Κύπρο και σε Ελλάδα, Λίβανο, Ενωμένα Αραβικά Εμιράτα, Ρωσία, Μάλτα, Γερμανία και άλλες ευρωπαϊκές χώρες.
Επτά από τα διαφημιστικά αυτά προκρίθηκαν στους φιναλίστ των Διεθνών Βραβείων Διαφημίσεων του Λονδίνου (London International Advertising Awards), ενώ άλλα τρία συγκαταλέχθηκαν ανάμεσα στις διαφημίσεις-φιναλίστ των Βραβείων Ermis στην Ελλάδα. Συνεργάστηκε με όλους σχεδόν τους μεγάλους οργανισμούς της Κύπρου, καθώς και με άλλες εμπορικές εταιρείες. Δίδαξε κατά περιόδους φωτογραφία και παραγωγή βίντεο στα κολέγια Europa, Cyprus College & Intercollege. Από το 2012, διδάσκει Παραγωγή Τηλεοπτικών Διαφημίσεων στο Πανεπιστήμιο Λευκωσίας στον κλάδο Εφαρμοσμένων Πολυμέσων, ενώ από το 2014 διδάσκει επίσης Ψηφιακό Κινηματογράφο στον κλάδο Επικοινωνίας του Πανεπιστημίου Λευκωσίας.
Tonia Mishiali
Tonia Mishiali was appointed as one of the Artistic Directors of Cyprus Film Days International Film Festival in October 2014. She also holds the position of Film Representative on the Board of Directors of the Directors Guild of Cyprus since January 2014.
Born in Famagusta, Cyprus in 1973, her love for the moving image from an early age, led her to pursue her dream and become a filmmaker. She studied Media Production in the UK and in 1997 she moved back to Cyprus to start working as a director and producer, also creating her own production company. She has worked on other Directors’ short and feature films as 1st Assistant Director, Production Manager and Executive Producer. She has also exhibited her photography work many times over the years and won various awards in national and international photography competitions.
She loves experimenting with different mediums- in her career she has written, directed and produced for theatre, film, video and television in Cyprus and abroad, dealing with a variety of subjects and adopting original approaches. She has exhibited her work and participated in a big number of national and international film and performance festivals. Particularly, the experimental performance “Inanimate collateral loop” (2011), a collaboration with a choreographer and an applied artist, participated in the group video exhibition “Undefine” at Marl’s Glass-Box Museum in Marl, Germany. Her second short film, “Dead End” (2013), has won 5 awards (2 of which for“Best Director”) and numerous nominations, including the Golden Pardino – Leopards of tomorrow for the film’s official selection at the 66th Locarno Film Festival, where it also made its World premiere. The same film was officially selected in more than 35 International Film Festivals all over the world. Her latest film “Lullaby of the Butterfly” (2014) was officially selected at the 20th Sarajevo Film Festival for its World Premiere and has already won various other nominations and two awards. Tonia is now writing her debut feature film.
Η Τώνια Μισιαλή διορίστηκε ως μια από τους καλλιτεχνικούς διευθυντές του Διεθνές Φεστιβάλ Κινηματογράφου Cyprus Film Days τον Οκτώβριο του 2014. Έχει, επίσης, τη θέση του Εκπρόσωπου Κινηματογράφου στο Διοικητικό Συμβούλιου της Ένωσης Σκηνοθετών Κύπρου από τον Ιανουάριο του 2014.
Γεννημένη στην Αμμόχωστο της Κύπρου το 1973, η αγάπη της για την μεγάλη οθόνη την ώθησε να πραγματοποιήσει το όνειρο της και να γίνει σκηνοθέτης. Σπούδασε Media Production στην Αγγλία και το 1997 επέστρεψε στην Κύπρο όπου άρχισε να δουλεύει ως σκηνοθέτης και παραγωγός, δημιουργώντας επίσης τη δική της εταιρεία παραγωγής. Έχει δουλέψει σε ταινίες μικρού και μεγάλου μήκους άλλων σκηνοθετών ως Α’ Βοηθός Σκηνοθέτη, Διευθύντρια Παραγωγής και Εκτελεστής Παραγωγός. Έχει επίσης εκθέσει τη φωτογραφική της δουλειά αρκετές φορές τα τελευταία χρόνια και έχει κερδίσει βραβεία σε Εθνικούς και Διεθνείς διαγωνισμούς.
Της αρέσει να πειραματίζεται με διαφορετικά μέσα– στην καριέρα της έχει γράψει, σκηνοθετήσει και παράγει για τον κινηματογράφο, το θέατρο, το βίντεο και την τηλεόραση, στην Κύπρο και στο εξωτερικό, ενώ ασχολείται με ποικίλα θέματα, προσεγγίζοντας τα με πρωτοτυπία. Έχει λάβει μέρος σε ένα μεγάλο αριθμό εθνικών και διεθνών φεστιβάλ κινηματογραφου και παραστατικών τεχνών. Συγκεκριμένα, η πειραματική performance “Inanimate collateral loop” (2011), μια συνεργασία με μια χορογράφο και μια εικαστικό, έλαβε μέρος στην ομαδική έκθεση “Undefine” στο Marl’s Glass-Box Museum στο Marl της Γερμανίας. Η δεύτερη της ταινία “Dead End” (2013), έχει κερδίσει 5 βραβεία (τα 2 για “καλύτερη σκηνοθεσία”) και πολλές υποψηφιότητες, συμπεριλαμβανομένης αυτής για το Golden Pardino – Leopards of tomorrow για την επίσημη επιλογή της ταινίας στο 66ο Φεστιβάλ Κινηματογράφου του Λοκάρνο, όπου και έκανε την παγκόσμια της πρεμιέρα. Η ίδια ταινία έχει επιλεγεί για τα επίσημα διαγωνιστικά τμήματα πέραν των 35 Διεθνών Φεστιβάλ Κινηματογράφου ανά τον κόσμο. Η τρίτη της ταινία “Το νανούρισμα της πεταλούδας” (2014) έχει επιλεγεί επίσημα στο διαγωνιστικό τμήμα του 20ου Φεστιβάλ Κινηματογράφου του Σαράγεβο για την παγκόσμια της πρεμιέρα. Η ταινία έχει ήδη κερδίσει 2 βραβεία και αρκετές υποψηφιότητες. Η Τώνια τώρα γράφει την πρώτη της ταινία μεγάλου μήκους.
