Quick Talk

________

Name: Giannis Ioannidis

Who is Who: Information Centre Manager Cyprus Film Days 2014

I work for Cyprus Film Days… let me remember… at least six years.

My responsibilities… there are many and exceed my title. In theory, I am responsible for the venue where the parallel events are organized. Open up the space, get everything ready and hand him over. In the meantime I’ll talk to technicians, supervise music productions and make sure the bar is ready, set up and in the right atmosphere. I’m also responsible for hosting foreign directors.

It is very important in my work that there are two things: communication and good energy.

The first time I worked for the festival was in Nicosia.

Our response is improving year after year. The audience learns and responds to the festival’s call. He’s getting familiar. The festival itself, as it grows, becomes better and becomes its own character. But it is also very important that, as time goes by, the people we work for become a team. We work better together and become more efficient and that is very important.

What makes the festival special is the way it is conducted. Cypriot and not Lemesian, comes to a place and sees the best films of the year assembled. He can also enjoy along with the film everything the city offers him.

I hope that at some point the festival will become well known outside Cyprus and that we will have the opportunity to host spectators and directors/producers from abroad. It is very important for a festival to host producers and directors. It is a form of recognition as important as that offered to you by spectator seats, but at a different level.

For next year, I hope we will continue to exist.

The film I saw in the framework of the festival and remember features is the film “Loveless Zoritsa”.
